Flagellates (orange trails) interact with a bright blue microplastic in fluorescence. Often microplastics I find are microfibers washed out from our laundry, and the optical brighters used in fabrics make them glow bright colors in fluorescence. In this timelapse, flagellates, which swim in a helical path are seen interacting with the microfiber/microplastic. Collected from Mount Auburn cemetery, however I find microplastics in every place I collect from.
